Howard Iken
Attorney Howard Iken represents Hillsborough County residents facing life-changing legal issues. He assists them in all aspects of divorce actions and Chapter 7 bankruptcy filings.
Mr. Iken is an experienced divorce attorney and provides aggressive defense throughout the legal process, whether in mediation or litigation. The goal of divorce mediation is to eliminate costs, stress and the lengthy process involved in a trial. To achieve that goal, Mr. Iken encourages his clients to look strong, act tough and be fully willing to go to trial. In divorce actions, Howard Iken considers mediation a "contact sport," not a cooperative setting where agreements are made in peace. He wants the other side to know that he is ready, willing and able to go to trial.
In his practice of bankruptcy, Mr. Iken has witnessed the effects of the harassment and abuse that his clients experience. Hard-working people, some with families, are afraid to answer their phone or open their mail. He identifies and communicates the best option for them based on their specific financial situation with the plain and simple truth. He is dedicated and compassionate in telling his clients what they need to hear, not necessarily what they want to hear.
Howard Iken graduated with a Juris Doctorate and received the Pro Bono Award from Stetson University College of Law in 2004. He also earned a Master of Business Administration in 2003 from Stetson. Since 2008, Mr. Iken has been a Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator from the Florida Supreme Court Dispute Resolution Center.
Mr. Iken is also a member of the Criminal Law Section of the Florida Bar and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.
